%0A Two seasons ago, the Théâtres de la Ville re-established an old tradition dating back to the 1960s: they brought fairy tales back to life, in the Luxembourgish language. In December 2017, Rumpelstilzchen (Rumpelstiltskin) , written by Ian De Toffoli and directed by Myriam Muller, proved to be a theatrical triumph. The idea is to create a new work every two years, thanks to the combined talents of an author and a director; each time, an old classic is revisited, with a view to bringing the greatest possible pleasure to an audience of the young and not-so-young in anticipation of the end-of-year festivities.%0A%0AFor this 2019 production, the Luxembourg author Jeff Schinker and the director Charles Muller have brought together an ensemble of first-rate actors and musicians to immerse us in the world of Rabonzel (Rapunzel) .%0A%0AYoung Rapunzel is sold by her parents to a lugubrious individual who owns a mysterious garden. Locked up in a tower, the young girl hopes to fulfil her dream of becoming a famous singer. Helping her to achieve that goal is the mysterious character called Lone ? casting agent and hypocritical sorcerer ? whose intentions remain dubious ...%0ARapunzel quickly realises that Lone is in fact cooking up his own plans for her. She gets to know a rather clumsy but charming prince. Will Rapunzel see her dream come true?%0A%0AIn this new version of Rapunzel , a fairy tale recounted many times in literature and on the stage, the focus is on music and dreamland. New compositions and songs by Gast Waltzing evoke the theme of youth, its aspirations and ideals, and the way in which these are often exploited by adults.%0A%0A
