Description

With 20 dancers

Following in the footsteps of Ballet National de Marseille and Peeping Tom (returning this season with Dido & Aeneas), and after a year's delay, Ballet BC will be in residence at the Théâtres de la Ville in 2022 for the world premiere of a new piece. Created by the Canadian company's artistic director, Medhi Walerski, it rounds off a programme of three works.

Opening is Medhi Walerski's 2016 GARDEN. A meditation on Saint-Saëns's Piano Quintet in A minor, Op.14, it weaves together a series of elegant duets.

Next comes a version of the popular Bedroom Folk, created in 2015 by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar. The twitchy electronic music from Ori Lichtik seems to bewitch the dancers and all 12 move as one sensual group until a breakaway makes a bid for self-expression.

Finally, the new work concludes a programme that will show off the full range of the bold and innovative Ballet BC.
