Description

Is consciousness a curse, asks Luxembourg-based choreographer Léa Tirabasso. Does our awareness of mortality and finitude hold us back in life? Can we escape the bounds of time by embracing madness?

She grapples with these big questions in her new piece, Dingoes, for five dancers and will develop the final work during a six-week residency in Annonay in France, made available through a partnership between the Théâtres de la Ville and French company La Baraka.

Léa Tirabasso brings an exciting new voice to dance, honed at The Place in London where she developed her last two works, TOYS (2017) and The Ephemeral Life of an Octopus (2019), which was made in response to a personal experience of cancer. Dingoes marks her debut at the Grand Théâtre.

?I am interested in the collision between the graceful and the dissonant,? she says in her mission statement, "the comic and the tragic, the grotesque and the transcendent.?
